
The western slope of the Patchwork Parkway begins on Interstate 15 and works its' a southeasterly course through the town of Parowan, Utah and up toward the Markagunt Plateau toward Brian Head Ski & Summer Resort.
This slope of the Scenic Byway 143 begins at 6,000 feet and ascends to the plateau at approximately 10,000 feet. The highest peak on the plateau, Brian Head Peak, is at an elevation of 11307 ft (3446 m). Along this course the traveler will pass through juniper and cottonwood trees, spruces, pines and aspens.
The road has been carved on the edge of vast slopes and weaves it way through the bottom of canyons and across a upper valley at Brian Head before cresting near Cedar Breaks National Monument. Streams from various drainages course downhill along the roadside in various locations.



Iron County
